The Roots - The Seed (2.0) ft. Cody Chestnutt

Introducing a song that just doesn’t age. With just as relevant a sound as when it came out in 2002, The Seed (2.0) is seemingly a classic by one of the best hip-hop acts ever created. I’ve always thought of The Roots as a dark horse in the hip-hop world; they are ever-present but never seem to get the same press as your Eminems and Kanyes.

I would love to see The Roots live (other than on Jimmy Fallon) because they are one of the few hip-hop acts that seem to craft their music using live instruments rather than mixed beats. I remember seeing Lil Wayne at Bonnaroo and it felt like listening to a radio on scan because it just skipped through all the songs he was featured in while he pushed the other members of his crew. I would trust The Roots to be much more impressive. Whenever this song pops into my head I’m not satisfied until I’ve had another listen.

And I’m keeping my secrets mine,
